How to restart MySQL on VPS v1 Unix via the command line

To start and stop MySQL, run the following from your VPS’s command prompt (replace with the actual file name). If you are using the sh ~/etc/rc command to start MySQL, realize it will also start whatever other programs that are listed there in the rc file.

VPS v1 - Start

nohup /usr/local/bin/daemon -f /usr/local/bin/virtual /usr/local/MySQL/bin/safe_mysqld --pid-file=/usr/local/MySQL/var/ &

sh ~/etc/rc
VPS v1 - Stop
mysqladmin –u root –p shutdown

VPS v1 - Start

/usr/local/etc/rc.d/ start

VPS v1 - Stop

/usr/local/etc/rc.d/ stop
