How to restart MySQL on VPS v2 Unix via the command line

The following sets of commands will show you how to stop and start MySQL on VPS v2 and v3 servers.

v2

To Stop MySQL:

/usr/local/etc/rc.d/mysql-server.sh stop 

You can use mysqladmin also, however this method takes longer since the password will be required.

mysqladmin -u root -p shutdown

To Start MySQL:

/usr/local/etc/rc.d/mysql-server.sh start

v3

To Stop MySQL:

/usr/local/etc/rc.d/mysql-server stop

To Start MySQL:
