Domain name FAQs

The following are frequently asked questions about domain names.  This FAQ is intended primarily for our resellers who have accounts with a backroom.

What domains can be registered through your new Domain Name Registration service?

We will be able to assist with the registration of .com, .net, .org, .biz, .info, and .us domain names up to 67 characters in length. The 67 characters includes the dot and extension (ex. 1-63 Character + the .com). We are not able to assist with the registration of international country code domain names at this time; however, we anticipate offering registration of International country code domain names in the future.

What is the fee for the new domain registration service?

The current registration fees can be found on the Domain Name Registration page.  We also offer Resellers bulk domain name registration service, so you can register more than one domain name at a time.

What is the Domain Registration Exhibit?

The Domain Registration Exhibit covers the terms and conditions associated with our registration of domain names. You must agree to the terms and conditions of this Exhibit, as well as the Verio Reseller Agreement before we will register domain names for you or your customers. Likewise, your customers must agree to the same terms listed in this Exhibit. It is your responsibility to inform your clients of this Exhibit prior to requesting that a domain name be registered on their behalf.

You will need to return a signed copy of the Verio Reseller agreement and agree online to the Domain Registration Exhibit before we will submit any domain names for registration. Domain names that are received prior to us receiving a signed copy of the Verio Reseller Agreement and online acceptance of the Domain Registration Exhibit will simply be placed on hold until the necessary Agreement is received.

How will I be billed for new domain registrations?

Just like the other services you receive from us, you will be billed directly for all domain names registered through us. This makes it your responsibility to collect prompt payment from your clients for the domains they request to be registered with us. You will be billed according to the existing billing terms and pricing. We will not contact nor bill your clients for the domain names you request that we register.

How are domain name renewals handled?

As a service to you, we will automatically renew all domain name registrations for one year (two years for domains). The renewal of the registrations takes place 3 days prior to the expiration date. You will be notified, by email, approximately 90 days prior to the renewal date of the registered domain. This automated renewal process can be halted by opting out of the automated renewal process (see question below), or by removing the domain registration in the Domain Manager Interface (located in the Reseller Backroom).  Failure to opt out of the automated renewal process, or to remove the domain registration will result in the renewal of said domain name and your account will be invoiced appropriately. Such invoices are not subject to our dispute policy.

How do I opt out of the automated domain name renewal process?

The Domain Registration Manager in the Reseller Backroom contains a box that you can check if you do not wish to automatically renew your domain names. By checking this box and clicking update you must then manually renew each and every domain name you wish to keep by using the tools contained in the Domain Registration Manager.

Who should be listed as the domain contacts?

You will be able to specify any Administrative, Billing, or Technical Contact information for the domains you register; however, regardless of the Billing Contact submitted, you will be contacted and billed directly for all new domain names and renewal of domain names.

We recommend you list the domain owner (likely your client) as the Organization and Administrative Contact, yourself as the Billing Contact, and either the domain owner (your client) or yourself as the Technical Contact.

Can I add Private Registration to domain name that I have registered previously?

Yes, you can add Private Registration to an existing Domain Registration. You can use the order wizards and enter the existing domain name and follow the steps. You would then be invoiced a pro-rated amount for the private registration so that the private registration and your domain registration will expire on the same date and year.

Will the Private Registration use Verio branded information?

No, the private registration information will reference a generic email address and a generic PO box in California that is maintained by Melbourne IT.

How can I register a domain name on behalf of my client, but not get involved in the billing and renewal of the domain?

Currently, we do not have a process that will accommodate this. If you do not want to be directly involved in billing for the domain names of your clients, select an Accredited Registrar of your choice.
