How to request a domain's authorization code from the Backroom

NOTE: The following instructions are for obtaining the authorization code though the Backroom.  If you use the Control Panel for billing, please see this article. If you do not know if you use the Backroom or Control Panel for billing, please see this article.

An authorization code is required to transfer a domain to another registrar.  The following steps will guide you through the process.

  1. Log into the backroom.
  2. Click on the Domain Registration Manager link.
  3. Check the box to the left of the domains you wish to see authorization codes for.
  4. Click View Authorization Codes for Selected Registrations.

The screen will refresh and display the authorization code.

NOTE: This option will not be available if the domain name is locked or if a product has been recently ordered (e.g. if a domain registration or renewal was ordered in the last 60 days, the authorization code will not be available). Please contact support for assistance with acquiring the transfer authorization code in this situation.

NOTE: If your domain is a TLD(Top Level Domain), it will not have a transfer authorization code. Please see this article for information on transferring your registration.
